Hello my name is Marcus Brooks, I’m here because I am passionate about running and green smoothies. I want to help runners run faster and longer by showing them how to add green smoothies to their diet!
I know what it is like to run out of energy doing a race and fail to PR. It took me failing over and over to BQ (boston qualifying) I hit the mark on April 29, 2017 – derby festival marathon.
This is why I am here to help runners who want to run their first 5k, half-marathon, full-marathon to runners that want to PR again and BQ. I just BQ back in April and let me tell you it was one of the best days in my life as a runner. The red carpet was pull out for at least a day! My picture was posted on the derby festival face book page so many people like my fb post. Texas Roadhouse brought me a meal! Oh yeah! This Hot nurse even took a picture of me finishing the race and could not wait to tell me at work the next day!
It wasn’t long ago I could not run a full marathon without walking. My first marathon was such a struggle I told myself many times doing the race never again this is stupid. It took me 4hrs and 5 min.
After years of hitting the wall at mile 20 and not having enough energy to finish strong my plan was to figure out how to have more energy to run through this wall I call dream killer!
This when I came across the POWER BY GREEN SMOOTHIES website by Sergei Boutenko. He had a documentary about how green smoothies can help the performance of endurance athletes. I watch the documentary and thought to myself maybe this could also work for me!
So this is how I came up with the green smoothie experiment idea. I email Sergei and told him about my experiment which was to see if this could help me not fall prey to the dream killer wall and BQ! He say the experiment is simple just one to two quarts a day. You will find that you feel lighter on your feet.
I did the experiment for five weeks and drink at least a cup a day. I brought a PH Kit from amazon.com to test my PH energy level and my PH went up. My practice long runs like 20 miles felt much better. Before this my legs run get these cramps that would slow my pace way down. I notice after this that the legs cramps went away for good.
On April 29, 2017 in Louisville, Kentucky I was able to defeat dream killer (the 20 mile wall) and run the last mile with the inspiration of my co-worker that pass away a week before my race to victory. I BQ baby! my legs did feel much better than in the past.
Being able to go from a 4hr to 5min marathon to 3hrs 8min in only six full marathons.( All derby festival marathons) has not been easy. Yes! it took more than drinking green smoothies everyday. Me believing in myself and sticking to my running plan.
